Ear lobe piercing: to allow or not - that is the question!
All people who have many piercings all over their bodies, including their ears,
started one day probably with a simple single ear lobe piercing. And then, as it
is said: appetite comes with eating. As a rule, ear piercing starts with a traditional
- ear lobe piercing. Little girls from their very childhood start begging for an
ear lobe piercing and those cute shiny earrings. You begin thinking: should I allow
her or is it too early for the girl of six to have her ears pierced? You even can
think about ear lobe piercing of your baby-daughter (looking around and seeing
your friends with their children's ears being pierced), but again you start thinking,
if it is dangerous or not for such a small kid.
In fact, if we take western cultures, it is typical for a teenager or sometimes
an adult to have their ears pierced there, but not for babies. But the situation
is gradually changing. Ear lobe piercing is popular with young mothers for their
children for different reasons: religion, and family traditions are among them.
Some of them want everyone around realize that their baby is a girl, so they have
their daughters ears pierced.
There are not much more risks of ear lobe piercing with children than with the
adults. There are even some advantages, as when the children are small, they usually
don't remember any unpleasant moments connected with process of piercing itself
and also with the period of healing. When you think about piercing your daughter
or son's ears, it goes without saying that you should choose thoroughly the place
where it will be done. Make sure that the studio has all the necessary documents
for exercising such sort of operations. And in general - look around, pay attention
to such things as how the piercers are dressed, how the piercing tools are kept,
etc. The second thing which you should keep in mind is the jewelry you will use
for your daughter's/son's new ear lobe piercing. Don't buy cheap ones of course,
surgical steel or 14k gold will be ideal for your child's new ear lobe piercing
as these material don't cause allergies. It will be only after 6 months when you'll
be able to change the first earrings (6 months is usually an average period of
healing of ear lobe piercing), so make a careful decision on the type of the first
piercing jewelry your child will wear. All duties connected with aftercare will
lie down on your shoulders too of course. So, it will be ideal if you find aftercare products, which you'll use, in advance. And consult the piercer how often and how
you should clean your child's new piercing. Don't be afraid to make your child
happy!
